I learnt during my college days that this is the longest word in English with just one vowel. It was found in a book with lot of puzzles, word play, logic and mathematical. Don't remember the title or author now.
Of course my own attempt to find more such words were futile. SYMMETRY has also 8 letters but the two Y's in that word are pronounced like vowels.
My aim today was just to point out that feature of that word. I am not sure this meets the requirement of a fair cryptic clue. Today I want to congratulate a high school girl who has solved it. Keep coming to these pages Shweta from Hyderabad.
