Solution to Krypton 60 (26th August 2018)
Today's clue: A nobleman got 500 for 5 a price reduction (8)
Its solution: DISCOUNT = Viscount - V + D
I know some of you have strong objections. 'Getting 500 items for 5 is not a mere discount it is quite a bargain'. However it is being played down so as not not to attract anti-dumping law in the prevailing atmosphere of tariff wars!!
This has been solved by 35 persons. A few had given VISCOUNT as the answer.
Though this kind of clues can sometimes be ambiguous, this one is not. I had made it clear it is D for V in the solution.
